CONTRIBUTIONS OF SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, AND INNOVATIONS MARLYN D. RAMOS

Students showcased innovation as the Department of Science and Technology officially kicked off this year’s Regional Science and Technology Week to highlight the contributions of science, technology, and innovations (STI) to nation building and resilience. With the theme “Siyensya, Teknolohiya at Inobasyon: Kabalikat sa matatag, maginhawa at panatag na kinabukasan”, the RSTW aims to encourage the youth to pursue science and technology as well as mathematic (STEM) career paths by showcasing technological innovations in the field with real-world applications. The DOST, which invited schools to showcase their technologies, highlighted that they have always been sincere in their mission to bring STI closer to the people, and that these efforts can be seen in through the various exhibits that showcase different technologies with practical day-to-day applications in the lives of the average Filipino. An example is the Grassroots Innovations for Inclusive Development Program that they launched through a SalikLakbay expedition recently, wherein they identified local innovations and came up with interventions to help locals with their livelihood. Through these practical exposures, students can grasp how their love for science and technology can lead to fulfilling careers. This strategy, officials said, empowers learners, fostering passion for STEM and its real-world applications, aligning with the Department of Education’s commitment to nurturing well-rounded forward-thinking individuals who will drive progressive development in our local community and country.
