ABM STUDENT: LIFE AND CHALLENGES
MARY GRACE M. NAPATA
Being an Accountancy and Business Management student is both fun and challenging. Aside from meeting new people, there are lots of new things to learn and to explore. Despite of these things, there are also adversities and struggles that a student might face along the way. Taking up Accountancy and Business Management (ABM) is not just easy. This centers on the ideas of management and accounting plus a better understanding of all topics relating to business finance, economics and marketing. This strand can help students increase their skills and widen their knowledge to be ready in the tertiary level and in the field of business. One of the key benefits of studying ABM is that it offers students the opportunity to undertake work engagements. ABM is not just focused on business management, it also tackles the risks in managing business and how to have a successful business. The strand can take students on a direct path to careers in accounting and management: sales management, human resources, marketing director, bookkeeper, project officer, accounting clerk, internal auditor, and many more. This will open the opportunities to gain an appreciation of the essential elements that make up the world of accounting and business management courses in the Philippines without having to dive deeper into the specialized complexities of mathematical fields such as algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and others. Having hard times is just usual for a student. Many struggles are experienced in studying. Those challenges only test the capabilities of students. Taking ABM strand might have sleepless nights because of the requirements needed to pass, might have headaches because of the mathematical problems that are repeatedly solved, and might have stress to beat. But all these sufferings can help a student to be an improved person and these can give an advance knowledge in preparation for college. ABM strand is not something to be afraid of. Because in every hardship, there will be a result of success. Let experiences of difficult things be one’s inspiration to overcome instead of discouragement. Efforts are not worthless in taking up ABM. Surely, a student will not just be better but rather the best!
