Pasigarbo, showcase of Cebu festivals, to return in August
AFTER a two-year hiatus due to the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic, the Pasigarbo sa Sugbo, also known as the Festival of all Festivals, is set to return on Aug. 28, 2022.
The Cebu Provincial Tourism Office (PTO) said the return of the festival is aimed at further developing tourism and the economy in Cebu province.
Pasigarbo sa Sugbo is a grand cultural showcase of different festivals in the province. One of its goals is to attract local and foreign tourists to visit the different cities and towns of Cebu.
The Pasigarbo Street Dancing and Grand Showdown Competition are the main highlights of the event. It will also showcase different delicacies and tourist sites of the province.
A new Festival Queen will also be crowned at the Cebu City Sports Center on Aug. 26.
The government last held the Pasigarbo sa Sugbo during the 450th founding anniversary of the Province of Cebu in August 2019, with 45 contingents from component cities and municipalities of the province participating.
Apart from the Pasigarbo sa Sugbo, the PTO is also preparing for the continuation of the Suroy-Suroy Sugbo, which attracts thousands of visitors who want to experience the tourist destinations of the province.
PTO head Maria Lester “Marti” Ybañez said they would announce other details of the Pasigarbo and tourism-related activities later.
Following a pandemic-induced break, Suroy-Suroy Sugbo returned in March 2021 with five tour packages named Southern Adventure, Northern Escapade, Bantayan Island Getaway, Malapascua Island Getaway, and Staycation, each good for four days and three nights including roundtrip airfare, local transfers, breakfast, lunch and accommodation.
