“Teamwork and shared leadership are sure-fire ingredients to attain success in achieving the goals and objectives of the club,” announced newly installed president of the Zonta Club of Cebu 2, Petite Garcia.

These words were part of the distinct messages that Petite delivered during her installation. She stated that the club is built on a time-tested foundation of dynamic leadership and participatory and collaborative membership. Fortunately, the officers and members of the Board are lucky to lead a group fully committed to the ideals of Zonta: Service and advocacy toward the empowerment of women, and gender equality and ending of violence against women and girls.

Petite credited the club’s successes to the efforts of past presidents, especially to the admirable achievements of the late Elena Chiongbian-Young, who left the club with her esteemed legacy.

Further stressed were the various challenges brought about by the worldwide health crisis affecting most organizations, including Zonta. Many innovative measures were adopted to mitigate the impact of the pandemic on the club’s ability to remain relevant to the community served and responsive to the needs of partners and beneficiaries.

Now, more than ever, it is imperative to activate the one key strength of Zonta; Diversity in skillsets, vocations and professions, across the members, many of whom are successful entrepreneurs and professionals.

Aside from performing the installation of Petite, Manila-based Lt. Gov. Ofelia Bautista likewise included new vice president for internal affairs Edwina Wu, and Board member, lawyer Mae Elaine Bathan.

To add informative education to the event was resource speaker, Mia Zamora, a brilliant human resource executive and professional coach, who conducted a most awe-inspiring webinar on “Purposive Leadership” all the way from Madrid, Spain!

Zamora also encouraged members to keep abreast of Zonta’s current advocacies, and immerse themselves, most especially during this global lifestyle and economic crisis. She ended with, “Service to humanity is the best work of life.”

Zontians, say Amen to that!

Congrats to Petite, Edwina and Mae Elaine.
